7 FACTS ABOUT HALIME SULTAN YOU DIDN’T KNOW

The Turkish drama series Dirilis Ertugrul has taken Muslim audiences both in the East and West by storm. It is being aired on the national tv channel in Pakistan.

People are drooling over the highness of the Ottoman Empire and not to forget the beauty of Helima Sultan. Not only are they adoring these characters in the drama but they are also policing the main cast’s lifestyles for not being so Islamic. This series is based on Islamic history and the life of Ertugrul Gazi from the 13th century. The five seasons can also be streamed on Netflix, where the show is titled ‘Resurrection: Ertugrul.’

Here we will be telling you a few facts related to Halime Sultan.

  1. Halime Sultan was a Seljuks’s Princess who was known for her beauty and bravery. She was born in 1194 CE and had great warrior skills.
  2. She was very dedicated to her husband and his greatest supporter. She gave up her title and her Palace’s life due to her love and dedication to Ertugrul Bey and fought many enemies along with him.
  3. Through her marriage to Ertugrul Bey, Seljuk Turks, and Oguz Turks, the two greatest Turkish branches were irrevocably united by blood ties. Though the reason for this marriage remains unknown, in what circumstances a princess was married in a remote tribe that was still finding its place and had no state to live.
  4. Halime Sultan gave birth to three sons of Ertugral Gazi. Ertugral’s love and respect for his wife were widely known.
  5. Halime Sultan gave birth to Osman at the age of 67 years old which is a miraculous age for childbirth. At the age when normally women cannot have children anymore, he was considered as a Miracle sent by God. Historians consider a black hole in Ottoman history during Osman’s life as what is written about him was uncovered 100 years after he died. Osman became ruler of the Ottoman dynasty which ruled the world for six centuries.
  6. It is also allegedly considered by some historians that Halime Sultan was not the birth mother of Osman I. In history, the mother of Osman Gazi remained unknown.
  7. Halime Sultan preceded her husband and died after the death of Ertugrul Ghazi in 1281 CE. Halime Sultan is buried in the Tomb of Ertugrul Ghazi, Sogut, Turkey.
